Kohanim began on 2011 with the goal of creating high levels of fusion music. Founded by Cristian Cohen Simo (Songwriter) and Ariel Sanchez (Producer). Kohanim is an open project that explores several kinds of musical genres. To this date we have released 6 singles, and working hard to finish our first album.

What does Kohanim means?

Ko-ha-nim is an old Hebrew tribe, also a last name. Cristian Cohen formed Kohanim. He is Dominican - Hebrew (paternal and maternal side). So basically the band is developing his musical vision. Kohanim is Cohen in Hebrew.

Which musical genre represent Kohanim?

Some people say fusion, others indie music, you´ll be the judge of that, but first let us tell you about our influences, its also essential to hear and analyse our music.
Influences: Rock, Funk, Jazz, Trip Hop, Blues, Electro, Bossa Nova, Pop, Classical music, Progressive music, all mixed with tropical rhythms... for us it all comes down to an hybrid fusion of music genres.

When can we expect your album?

The album will have 10 songs, would be 12, but due to the high expectations generated by this first album and to accelerate the process, we decided to leave it at 10. If all goes according to plan, we will be presenting our album in early 2014.

Which are the plans of Kohanim?

At the moment our main goal is to finish the album. We already have many of the songs for the second one. We won't rest until Kohanim has been known around the world. We will continue to create original songs, no comercial stuff… because our fans deserve better; always bringing originality to the table and unusual mix of genres.

When is your next single coming out?

Right now we are working nonstop at the studio, doing all recordings of instruments. This single will have the colaboration of renowned musicians like David Muñoz, Peruvian, on lead vocals and Marino Peña, Dominican, on guitars; both participating for the first time in the project.

Cristian Cohen Simo - plays differents instruments in each song: Piano, Controllers, Bass, Electric or Classical Guitar, Lead Singing and or some minor Percussions. He is also the composer of most of Kohanim´s music and lyrics.
